Our RVICS project for September 2010 was Riverwoods Christian Center, St. Charles IL. Please check out Riverwoods web site to see what they are about. We found it to be a unique ministry.

The men were going to work on painting and installing fixtures and furniture in a new dorm but that didn’t happen due to incomplete HVAC and drywall installation. Instead, the men installed laminate flooring and electric outlets in a staff house, painted the front of the office building, vehicle maintenance, power washed buildings, painted trim, construction cleanup, and many small jobs. One of our crew was a welder and he constructed roll around racks for 6’ round tables.

The ladies washed walls, cleaned dorms, recovered bus seats, fixed blinds, weeded flower beds, stained bunk bed parts, and office jobs including computer entry, mailings, and phone calling.

For tours, we visited Cantigny ( the former estate of former Chicago Tribune editor and publisher Robert R. McCormick) and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

On one weekend we enjoyed a visit with our sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Joel Peters, and our great niece, Lucy. We also drove up and visited our niece Karen.

Upon departure from Riverwoods, we spent a few days in MI with our brothers Bob and Bill and visited other friends and relatives before coming to our October project in KY.
