Summer 2010

August 15, 2010

Our summer is about over. We planned to summer over visiting friends and relatives in Michigan, but the Lord had other plans for us.

After leaving our March project (Mt. Palomar), we spent the weekend with Chris & Christy, and we attended a CF-BOF (Christian Fellowship bird of a feather - a part of Escapees RV club) gathering at Lake Morena CA. Then on to RVICS Village in Smithville TX (our home base). In route, Mary suggested that since the village was our domicile, we should summer over there at least once. Ed agreed, but not this summer, we are going to MI.

On May 8 we attended a work day at Trinity Baptist Church where Ed came in contact with some poison ivy. Off to the doctor for a cure. The doctor suggested getting a PSA a couple weeks after he completed the cure for poison ivy. The PSA paperwork was tabled for a few weeks and Ed figured to get the test before our departure for MI - scheduled for June 10. Two weeks pass, poison ivy still active, back to the doctor for another cure.

Mean while, since we are  in Smithville, we decided to check around the local dealers and factories to check out a Manufactured home for our lot sometime next year. Mary finally gives “maybe” approval to a floor plan Ed likes - call the factory, yes there is one just coming off the line and will be on the back lot a few days before it is delivered. May 12, we go to see it, Mary loves it. We ask for an approximate price for next year planing. We learn the factory has made a mistake on the unit and it was refused by the buyer. The factory offers us about $10,000 additional discount on the unit to clear it from there inventory. --OK-- We make a deposit and delivery is scheduled for June 1. Permits are gotten, the pad is prepared. We start looking for financing. Two weeks, no luck, then - in casual conversation, we are asked “how much do you need”, on stating the amount, we get “that’s all? I can do that”. --OK-- The house can be delivered and setup before we leave on June 10th for MI.

Mary receives a jury summons for June 16. O-well we can leave for MI on the 17th since she won’t be selected. Besides, maybe we are supposed to get the skirting install on the house before we leave.

The house is in, the skirting is being installed - Ed goes for his PSA.

Mary has to return on June 29th for Jury interviews. O-well, we can leave on the 30th.

Ed’s PSA comes back at 5.05 (slightly high) and he is referred to a urologist. The urologist performs a DRE and suggests a biopsy. The biopsy is scheduled for June 29, Mary gets notification of jury release. July 9, the biopsy comes back positive with a Gleason score of 6 (mid stages). Ed elects for a Robotic Assisted Prostectomy to be performed on July 28. August 11, the doctor released Ed and we plan to leave for our September RVICS project (Riverwoods) on August 19 or 20 - Lord willing!

This year we did not go to MI - we summered over in Smithville.

Our daughter, Lori, and grandson, Scott, came to be with us during the week of Ed’s surgery. We are expecting to return in December and stay until we leave for an April 2011 project. Let us know when you will be coming to visit. We now have accommodations in the fifth wheel, guest house, and house for guests.
