RVICS north central reunion - We greatly enjoyed our time with old and new friends from Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota. The food was good and the tours enlightening. We especially enjoyed our tours of the Mitchell Hutterite Commune, and the Hansen Wheel and Wagon Shop.
After Mitchell we stopped off at Cedar Canyon Camp in Rapid City for a couple of days of work and rest. Ed did some electrical work with John Flynn (a SOWER who was there) and Dave P. (a RVIC who summers there). Was glad to be able to work instead of sitting around.
Escapade - A great time of fellowship with our Christian friends at both the Christian Fellowship BOF Fire-up at the Grace Bible Church and the Escapade. The 4th of July we had fireworks on all sides. It appeared like everybody in Gillette WY was putting on a display. Saturday the 5th we took a tour to Devils Tower and on open pit coal mine - impressive.
On our way to Red Deer, AL, CA, we stopped off at The Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument. The tour and ranger talk were very interesting. The battle field was much more compact than I had imagined.
Gospel Music Celebration - Three days with Twenty one hours of good music from 20+ singing groups and morning Bible Studies by Jerry Goff. What more can I say?
Time with friends - After Red Deer we visited RVICS friends Len and Jane DeBraber at Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Proincial Recreation Area near Edmonton for a couple of days then on to Air Ronge, SK, Canada with Nelson and Ruth Orthner.
We’ve enjoyed six weeks in Air Ronge with Nelson and Ruth. Nelson and Ed did a little remodeling in the basement. The bathroom received a new shower, drywall, floor tile, and vanity (yet to be installed). The bedroom received drywall and a suspended ceiling. The living room lost and old unused chimney (which was leaking water into the basement each spring) and received drywall repairs and a suspended ceiling. The office received drywall and a suspended ceiling. The laundry room received new water resistant drywall, tile floor, and suspended ceiling. The entire living space in the basement is receiving SubFlor with approximately 50% installed at this time. Ruth has been scraping off old wall paper and stipple, cleaning up after the guys (a never ending job), and painting. We are leaving with some finish work (the remainder of the SubFlor, some tapping, painting, and finish floor) left for Nelson and Ruth to do.
Our stay has not been all work. Ruth and Nelson have been very good hosts with tours to the surrounding area, picnics, and a berry picking expedition. We have also enjoyed time with their family and friends at the La Ronge Alliance Church.
